PM leaves for Myanmar today for 3rd BIMSTEC Summit

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will leave for Myanmar today to attend the third Summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, BIMSTEC.

Dr. Singh will use his visit to renew contacts with leaders of the seven-member grouping at the summit level meeting tomorrow in Nay Pyi Taw. The BIMSTEC comprises India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal.

The member countries bring together 21 per cent of the world population, which is about 1.5 billion, and a GDP of over 2.5 trillion dollars.
