Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has left for Tokyo, Japan this morning on a three-day state visit for bilateral Summit. He will be received by the Parliamentary Vice Foreign Minister on behalf of Japanese government and by Indian Ambassador at his arrival late in the evening as per Japanese time.
Quoting Indian Ambassador to Japan, Mrs. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa our correspondent Rajesh Bali reports from Tokyo that with the return of Mr. Shinzo Abe as the Prime Minister of Japan, the two leaders will have an opportunity to take forward their vision of India-Japan relations to a new high. The Ambassador has hoped that the year 2013 is going to be a landmark year for India-Japan relations.
The strategic and global partnership that was launched by both the Prime Ministers in 2006 marked the beginning of a qualitative transformation of our relationship.
During the course of the Summit meeting between both the Prime Ministers scheduled on May 29th, discussions on the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement and a review of overall Indo-Japan relations to have a robust strategic and global partnership will be at the top priority.
Prime Minister Singh is also meeting a business delegation on May 28th . He is likely to call upon them to contribute toward India's economic growth by taking advantage of enormous scope available for Japanese companies to invest in India.
The Prime Minister and Mrs Kaur will call on the Emperor and Empress of Japan, who have hosted a luncheon for them in the Royal Imperial palace on May 29th.
