PM launches membership drive of BJP; enrolls himself as first member

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the membership drive of BJP at party Headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday evening. Mr Modi enrolled himself as the first member of the party as it is necessary for every member to renew one's membership every six years. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, when BJP is in power, the responsibilities of every member increases manifold.

He said, the members are the representatives of the people. Mr Modi also said that India is a country full of diversities and the same should be reflected in the party. He asked the party workers to enroll people from all sections of society to make it more broad based. The Prime Minister also said that there is big difference between being a member of political party now and in the past as people expects them to resolve their problems. Mr Modi said, also asked the BJP President to invite leaders from other democratic parties of the world to study the BJP membership model to make it a subject of research.

BJP President Amit Shah said that the drive will continue till March next year to enroll new members. Traditional method as well as online medium will be used for the drive. A toll-free number was launched for the membership.
