Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first National Handloom Day and unveiled India Handloom brand in Chennai today. He arrived in Chennai on a day's visit. He was received at the airport by Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, among others.'<br/><br/>Mr. Modi had a 15-minute meeting with Jayalalithaa at the airport. This is the Prime Minister's first visit to the Tamil Nadu capital since he assumed office. <br/>Besides inaugurating the Handloom day, the Prime Minister also presented Sant Kabir awards and National Awards for handloom weavers on the occasion. A programme showcasing master creations of the awardees is also being inaugurated on the occasion in the adjacent building of Madras University.
