Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the passing of 'Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill – 2016' by Parliament. Mr. Modi said this is a landmark moment and will add tremendous strength to Accessible India movement. <br/><br/>Under the Act, the types of differently-abled have increased and at the same time provisions for additional benefits have been introduced. <br/><br/>Yesterday, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawar Chand Gehlot said, the number of categories of differently-abled have been increased from seven to 21 so that the Divyangs can have the benefits of various schemes at the Centre and State level. <br/><br/>The new categories include, speech and language disability, specific learning disability, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy and three blood disorders, Thalassemia, Hemophilia and Sickle Cell disease. <br/><br/>The Bill also seeks to enhance reservation for Divyangs in government jobs from 3 percent to 4 percent.
