Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed the BJP's good performance in Maharashtra municipal council polls to party's pro-poor and development politics. <br/><br/>In a series of tweets, Mr. Modi lauded party workers and state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the victory saying their grass-root level work ensured people place their trust in BJP. He also thanked people of Maharashtra for placing their faith in the party.<br/><br/>Reacting to results, BJP President Amit Shah linked it to peoples support to Center's decision on demonetization saying it should be a wakeup call for opposition attempting to mislead the nation on the issue. <br/><br/> Mr. Shah said the decision to demonetise the the high value currency is in national interest.
