The Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh today urged the business communities in Malaysia to explore business opportunities in India to foster economic growth of the two countries. He said India is now an attractive destination for foreign businessmen. Speaking at a function organised by the Indian High Commissioner, Dr Singh said, India- Malaysia relationship has grown substantially in the last five years. The Prime Minister said it was his desire to upgrade the relationship to a higher level.Dr Singh also announced 20 scholarships to Malaysian students to study traditional medicine in India.The Prime Minister will leave for Vietnam today to take part in the Eighth India-ASEAN Summit and other meetings.The 17th ASEAN Summit and related Summits are beginning in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi today. The three-day will mark a number of summits and meetings, including the 8th India-ASEAN Summit and the 5th East Asia Summit. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to arrive in Hanoi to take part in these summits scheduled for tomorrow. AIR correspondent reports that the visit of Dr. Singh assumes significance in the context of India’s Look East policy which aims at furthering and strengthening its interests in the entire East Asia and South East Asia Region.On Wednesday, India and Malaysia decided to implement the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement from July next year which is expected to take their two-way trade to 15 billion dollar by 2015. The two countries have also decided to enhance their defense ties and set up a bilateral joint working group on counter terrorism at an early date. AIR correspondent reports that agreements and MoU's in the areas of Information Technology and Services , Tourism , Traditional Medicine, Cultural Exchanges and Scientific Research Development were also signed.
