Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited Malaysian companies to come to India and participate in the make in India mission saying that there are lot of opportunities for them in India. He also invited Malaysian companies to work for construction of affordable houses in India.
In a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Mr Modi said that Malaysia worked a lot on affordable housing and its companies can work in this area in India also. Mr Modi met Mr Razak on the sidelines of 25th ASEAN Summit and 12th ASEAN-India Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Mayanmar today.
Prime Minister told his Malaysian counterpart that the two countries have worked together in the past and this partnership can be taken to grater heights.
Our correspondent reports that Malaysian is India's second most important trading partner amongst the ASEAN countries. Bilateral trade has jumped from 2.5 billion dollars in 2008 to about 14 billion dollars in 2012-13 because of India-Malaysia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement, CECA, signed in July 2011.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with his Thailand counterpart Prayuth Chan-o-Cha, in Nay Pyi Taw , Myanmar today. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed hope that the relations with Thailand under the leadership of Prayuth Chan-o-Cha will become stronger. He also invited Thai companies to become part of India's Make in India Campaign. The Thai Prime Minister while appreciating the Make in India Campaign said that the concept is admirable adding that he will also apply it in his country to boost its economy.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have meetings with the Prime Minister of Singapore and the President of South Korea. Chairperson of National league for Democracy, Aung San Sui Kyi will call on the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in the evening.
