Congress leader V Kishore Chandra Deo and Trinamul Congress leader Dinesh Trivedi are the new faces in the Union Cabinet to be sworn in this evening. Three Ministers of State – Beni Prasad Verma, Dinesh Trivedi and Jairam Ramesh have been elevated to the Cabinet rank in the reshuffle of Union Council of Ministers. While Jayanti Natarajan and Pawan Singh Ghatwar will be the new Minister of State with independent charge, Milind Deora, Rajeev Shukla, Charandas Mahant, Jeetendra Singh, all from Congress and Sudeep Bandhopadhyay of Trinamool Congress are the other new Ministers of State. Prominent among the seven Ministers whose resignations have been forwarded to the President for acceptance are Murli Deora, Dr. M S Gill, B K Handique, Kanti Lal Bhuria and Arun S Yadav. While Dinesh Trivedi of Trinamool Congress succeeds Ms. Mamta Benerjee in Railways, Kishore Chandra Dev gets Tribal Affairs and Panchayati Raj and Jairam Ramesh Rural Development. Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan, Gurudas Kamat and Paban Singh Ghatowar also get independent charge. A press release issued by the Prime Minister Office, says that the oath of office and secrecy will be administered to the new Ministers at 5 pm this evening.
