PM indicates cabinet reshuffle before winter session

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said that he is considering a cabinet reshuffle before the winter session of Parliament. The next session is scheduled to begin from 7th of November. He told a select group of editors in New Delhi that he would like to reduce the average age of his cabinet. Dr Singh said there are no quick fixes to the Naxal problem. He said valid economic and social issues have to be addressed but law and order has also to be enforced. He said Home Minister P Chidambaram is doing an exceedingly good job. Dr Singh said a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security is being called shortly to discuss the situation in Kashmir. The Prime Minister admitted there have been lapses and delays in preparations for the Commonwealth games. He, however, urged that everyone must work together so that India is proud of delivering successful games.
