Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said today India has sought continuing openness and support to growing Indian presence in Germany including in the service sector.
Making a statement after signing of six agreements and MOUs between both the countries at Berlin Dr Singh said New Delhi has encouraged increased German participation in India`s rapid growth and its planes to modernise and upgrade our manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
He said India plans entail investment of a trillion dollars in the next five years. The Prime Minister said New Delhi also look forward to expand defense cooperation anchored in technology transfer, co development and co production. He said high technology commerce would benefit from further easing of German export controls for India.
Dr Singh said that inclusive growth, empoerment of people and sustainable development are key national priorities of India. He said agreements sighned during his visit not only support national priorities but also reflect the extraordinary breadth and diversity of relationship between both the countries.
Our correspondent covering PM`s visit reports a total of six joint declarations and MoUs were sighned between both the countries in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Singh and German Chancellor Angela Markel at German Chancellory. Union Ministers of Human Resource Development,Science and Technology and New Renewable Energy and Foreign Secretary and Indian Ambassador in Germany were signed MOUs and joint declaration in different fields from India side.
