Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated NDA government's Deen Dayal Upadhya Gram Jyoti Yojana in Patna today. Through the scheme, the Centre aims to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to each rural household across the nation by 2022. The elements of agricultural and non-agricultural feeders would be separated to restore power units in rural areas.<br/><br/>Under the Yojana, there are projects of 76,000 crores rupees out of which subsidy of 63,000 crores rupees will be given by the central government. The Centre has approved a grant of 8,000 crores for the project in Bihar.<br/><br/>Mr Modi, who is on his maiden visit to Bihar after becoming Prime Minister, also laid foundation of the first phase of the much-awaited Jagdispur-Haldia gas pipeline project. Through this pipeline, LPG customers in Patna will get gas in their homes.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister also dedicated permanent campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, to the nation. He also inaugurated the Incubation Centre for Medical Electronics at the institute.<br/><br/>Besides, Mr Modi inaugurated Daniawa-Biharsharif new rail line. With this rail line, the distance between Patna and Rajgir will be reduced by 12 kms. Mr Modi also flagged off the Patna-Mumbai Air-conditioned Suvidha Express and Rajgir-Biharsharif-daniawa-Fatuha Passenger train.<br/><br/>Later today, the Prime Minister will address a Parivartan Rally in Muzaffarpur. He will also participate in the foundation day function of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he will soon announce a special package of over 50,000 crores for Bihar. After inaugurating several programmes in Patna today, Mr Modi said that, as per the 14th Finance Commission, Bihar would get 3 lakh 75,000 crore rupees during 2015 to 2020.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister also announced 5,000 crore rupees for several national highway projects in Bihar. He said that there should not be any politics in development. He appealed states to co-operate with the Centre to speed up development.<br/><br/>Mr Modi stressed that without the development of the eastern states, the country cannot prosper. He said, that the Centre would leave no stone unturned to help different states, especially Bihar.<br/><br/>On the occasion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requested the Prime Minister to extend support for all-round development of the state. He said, the faculties including agriculture, aerospace, earthquake and architecture should be opened in IIT, Patna. He requested Mr Modi to clear pending projects of Bihar at the level of the Centre.<br/><br/>Later, the Prime Minister participated in the foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). In his address, he emphasized on lab-to-land urging Indian agricultural scientists to work towards the dual objective of enabling farmers to feed India and the world while earning a good income. He stressed on the chatur kranti-Saffron(energy) revolution, Green revolution, White revolution and Blue revolution.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, the dream of second green revolution would be fulfilled in northeastern parts of the state including Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam. Mr Modi also spoke about the increasing production of pulses and oil seeds. He said there is need to increase production.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister will address a Parivartan Rally in Muzaffarpur later in the day.
