The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh left Moscow this morning for Beijing after completing his two day successful Russia visit. Our Correspondent covering the Prime Minister's visit reports, that five agreements and MoUs were signed after a four hour long summit and delegation level talks at the Kremlin Palace. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Russian President Vladimir Putin have expressed their commitment for deepening the Strategic Partnership for Global Peace and Stability. In a joint statement issued after the 14th India Russia Annual Summit, both leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Enhancement of Cooperation in Oil and Gas Sector agreement signed in 2010. Both sides affirmed the need to join efforts of all states to defeat terrorism. They condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and agreed that there should be no tolerance for sheltering, arming, training, or financing of terrorists.
Welcoming increasing business interactions, the two sides agreed that investment collaboration was an important component of economic cooperation, which could also help in increasing bilateral investment and trade.
India has high expectations from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to China. A number of agreements in areas like trade, economy, culture and people to people contacts, are expected to be signed after talks Dr. Singh will have with Chinese leaders.
In an Interview to AIR, Indian Ambassador to China, Dr. S Jaishankar said, New Delhi is pressing Beijing hard to speed up its procedures to allow Indian medicines to China. He said Indian products in pharmaceutical sector are competitive and the drugs are highly affordable. Mr Jaishankar said the growing trade deficit in bilateral trade with China is a matter of concern as it has widened with the increasing volume of trade as a whole.
