Today is National Science Day. It is celebrated on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by physicist C V Raman. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted scientists and science lovers on the occasion. In a tweet, Mr Modi remembered Sir CV Raman's contribution to Science saying he was a great inspiration for young minds.<br/><br/>The theme of National Science Day this year is "Make in India: Science and Technology driven Innovations". A number of events have been organised in schools and colleges across the countries to mark the occasion. College and school students are demonstrating various science projects and taking part in science carnivals, essay competitions and debates on the subject. The objective of celebrating this day is to widely spread a message about the significance of scientific applications in the daily life of the people.
