Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Divas, the foundation day of the state. In a tweet , the Prime Minister extended his greetings. "On Utkal Divas, I convey my greetings to the kind and industrious people of Odisha and hope that Odisha's development will attain new heights.<br/><br/>Utkala Dibasa is celebrated on April 1 every year to commemorate the sacrifices of people for the formation of Odisha province in 1936. Odisha was the first State to be formed on linguistic basis in 1936. Earlier, Odisha was part of Bihar. This year's celebration is special as it is 80th year commemorating the formation of Odisha under British India in 1936.
