Prime Minister Narendra Modi was today given a detailed brief about overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, including Line of Control and International Border.
Arriving at Srinagar from Katra, the Prime Minister was taken to Badamibagh cantonment, headquarters of 15 Corps where he was briefed about the security situation at a high-level meeting of senior Army officers. He was informed about the measures taken to foil any infiltration bid from across the border. Prime Minister also paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives while protecting the borders in Jammu and Kashmir at the War Memorial at the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army in Badamibagh Cantonment.
The Prime Minister addressed the soldiers serving in the high altitude areas along the Line of Control and engaged in counter terrorism operations in the Kashmir Valley. He commended the Army for their selfless service to the cause of National Security.
Earlier in the day Prime Minister has flagged off the inaugural Katra-Udhampur train from Katra. On this occasion, Mr Modi said this new train connectivity will speed up the process of development in the state. The 25-km long Udhampur-Katra line, commissioned after prolonged delays, has been built at an estimated cost of more than one thousand one hundred crore rupees.
