The Prime Minister recalled the sacrifices made by generations for the independence of the country. He said the country was built by the farmers, the youth, teachers and scientists and not by the politicians. He added it is only in India that man from humble origin can reach at the pinnacle and stand under the flag at the ramparts of or Red Fort.
Recalling the contribution of all previous Prime Ministers, Central and State Governments, Mr. Modi said that Independence Day inspires the people to take the country to newer heights. Seeking cooperation of the Opposition he said, he wants to take the country forward on the strength of consensus not the majority. Decrying the violence the Prime Minister asked the countrymen to take the path of SADBHAWANA as the nation has not gained anything from it.
The Prime Minister said this in his address to the nation on the ocCassion of 68th Independence Day. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort in Delhi. Security has been tightened in the national capital particularly around the Red Fort area and elaborate ground-to-air security and traffic arrangements have been made.
