India on Thursday, raised with China serious concerns over repeated incursions along the Line of Actual Control and sought early settlement of the boundary issue.

In his media statement after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the agreement between the two countries on maintaining peace and tranquility on the border should be strictly observed.

Recent incidents of incursions by Chinese troops in Ladakh has been agitating Indian minds and the Prime Minister drove home the point that a climate of mutual trust and confidence, respect for each other's sensitivities and concerns and peace and stability are essential for realising inherent potential.

The Chinese President Xi Jinping said the boundary dispute has been left over from history and his country is determined to settle it at an early date.

Expressing concern on widening trade deficit, Mr Modi said he sought China's partnership in improving market access and investment opportunities for Indian companies.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said China will consider India's demand for access to its products in pharmaceutical and farm sectors. He said China and India will act as twin engines to promote growth and prosperity in the region.

Describing the discussion as productive, Narendra Modi said it is a historic opportunity to the relationship filled with vast possibilities and a new era of relations can be started with it.
