PM exhorts people to undertake at least ten-year moratorium on communal, caste & class violence

In his address to the nation on the occassion of country's 68th Independence day ,the Prime Minister said he wants to expedite the nation building process by encouraging the capabilities of government functionaries. Mr. Modi appealed to militants and Maoists to shun violence. Prime Minister exhorted the people to undertake at least ten-year moratorium on communal, caste and class violence.

He asked the people maintain peace and harmony to take the country ahead. Expressing anguish over incidents of rape, Mr. Modi said his head hangs in shame due to these incidents. On the issue of female foeticide the Prime Minister asked the people not to kill daughters as it is a blot on 21st century India. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort in Delhi.
