The Prime Minister has dismissed allegations of the use of money power for winning trust vote in Parliament in 2008. Dr.Manmohan Singh asserted that no one from Congress party or the government indulged in any unlawful activity in the trust vote.Making an identical statement in both the Houses of Parliament today Dr. Manmohan Singh affirmed that the veracity of reports like Wikileaks cannot be confirmed. He said some of the people named in the Wikileaks have already denied their involvement. The Prime Minister reminded that the allegations of bribery were investigated by a Committee constituted by the 14th Lok Sabha. The Committee did not find any substantial proof of any wrong doing. The issue was debated, discussed and rejected by people of India through subsequent general elections. He regretted that the opposition is raising an issue which is speculative and unverifiable. The statement came in the backdrop of opposition demand in the wake of Wikileaks expose alleging cash for vote for winning trust motion in 2008.Not satisfied with the reply of the Prime Minister, the Opposition wanted clarifications which the Chair ruled out. However, the Opposition in both the houses persisted with their demand. The Lok Sabha was adjourned first till 3.30 P.M. and then finally till Tuesday.In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Hamid Ansari said that the Prime Minister made a statement on the demand of the opposition and hence under rule 251 clarifications cannot be allowed. However, the Opposition did not relent and the House was adjourned till 3 P.M. But as soon as the Rajya Sabha reassembled, the Opposition continued its demand for clarification and the House was finally adjourned till Tuesday.
