Government today said that the Criminal Law Amendment Bill, aiming at preventing sexual offences against women, will be introduced in Parliament before the 22nd of this month. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Law Minister Ashwani Kumar said that various aspects related to the Bill were discussed during the Cabinet Meeting held today. He said Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has constituted an Empowered Group of Ministers to evolve a consensus on the proposed changes in the Law.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath meanwhile expressed the hope that Parliament will be able to approve the Bill before the ordinance in this respect lapses on the 22nd of this month.
