Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condoled the tragic death of former Afghanistan President Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani and condemned the terrorist attack on the leader. In a letter to the President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, Dr. Singh said, the best tribute the people of Afghanistan can pay to the departed leader is to carry on with the task that he had begun to secure a peaceful and safe future for the country.

According to an official statement, Dr. Manmohan Singh in his letter also recalled the meetings with Professor Rabbani held in Kabul in the months of May and July this year.
