PM condoles death of Naga leader Isak Swu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Naga leader Isak Chishi Swu. Mr Modi said, he will be remembered for his historical role in bringing out the Framework Agreement for Naga peace. Chairman of NSCN (IM), Isak Chishi Swu, passed away in New Delhi yesterday after a prolonged illness. <br/><br/>All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi, in a condolence message, expressed hope that his legacy would evolve into that of lasting peace and reconciliation. <br/><br/>Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya said, Isak was a person with a combination of all experiences who proved himself well practically. In his condolence message, Odisha Governor S.C. Jamir said, his death is a great loss to the Nagas at this critical moment.<br/><br/>Nagaland Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang has also condoled the demise of Isak Chishi Swu. In a condolence message, the Naga People's Front (NPF) Central office stated it was providential that charismatic leaders like Isak sacrificed their personal comforts and prosperity for the cause of the common good of the Nagas. <br/><br/>NSCN (I-M) sources said that the body would be brought to Dimapur tomorrow by a special chartered plane and taken straight to Hebron camp. On 1st July, the NSCN (I-M) will accord a state funeral. On July 2, late Isak's body will be taken to his native Chishilimi village and will be laid to rest.
