The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has condemned the attack on Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar. The Prime Minister Office's spokesperson told AIR that Dr. Singh has spoken to Mr. Pawar following the incident and enquired about his well being.

Meanwhile Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal has also condemned the attack on Minister of Agriculture Mr. Sharad Pawar at the NDMC building in New Delhi. Mr. Bansal said, that it is a cowardly attempt to undermine our democratic institutions. He added there cannot be any place for violence in a democratic polity.

AIR correspondent reports that one mentally sick youth on Thursday assaulted Mr. Pawar during a function in New Delhi on Thursday.
