PM calls on Germany, European countries to invest in India;10 Indo-German pacts signed

India and Germany have signed 10 agreements in different sectors, during the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's three-day visit to Berlin.

While five MoUs were signed in Renewable Energy, Science and Technology and the Railway sectors, five other MoUs were signed for co-operation in the fields of education and vocational training.

The pacts were signed yesterday, in the presence of Dr. Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, after the 2nd round of Inter-Governmental Consultations.

Our correspondent reports that Dr Singh brought to close the year-long Days of India in Germany festival held in different cities of Germany.

Addressing the Indian and German community on the occasion, the Prime Minister gave a clarion call to Germany and other countries across Europe to avail opportunities for investment in India.

He said the country remains open to foreign investments and aims to attract an investment of nearly one trillion dollars in infrastructure over the next five years.

Our correspondent, covering the Prime Minister's visit reports that Dr. Singh will meet German President Joachim Gauck today.
