Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has called a meeting to discuss for easy implementation of Food security Bill, suggested by over 30 leading experts and economists. The experts have suggested uniform legal entitlement of subsidised foodgrains to 67 per cent of the country's population under the Bill. The Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2011, is currently being vetted by the Parliamentary Standing Committee. Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Food Minister K V Thomas, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and PMEAC Chairman C Rangaran will be present in the meeting.
