Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that upgradation of technology and human resource development is need of the time in textile sector to attract the young generation towards it. Addressing a function at Varanasi today after laying foundation stone of Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum, he said that to face the challenge from the world market change in the design, better quality and variety production are needed in the sector. He said measures should be taken that youths join the sector not with compulsion but with pride. He said that it can be done with assured income to them.
Mr. Modi said textile is biggest sector after agriculture in providing employment avenues with small capital. He said there is no division of master and worker in the sector as a very cordial atmosphere prevails at working places.
The Prime Minister said India carries a tradition in textiles and Varanasi has its special place. He said workers should be provided knowledge of modern technology and designs at their work place and equipments should be developed to meet the requirements of modern technology. He called upon the weavers to enhance the production of Benarasi Sarees to meet with the heavy demand across the country. Earlier welcoming the Prime Minister and other dignitaries Union Minister of State For Textiles Santosh Gangwar said that Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum spread over in 8 acres of land will be come with the investment of about 150 crore rupees. He said Government has announced to set up textiles cluster at 8 places in the country and about 50 crore rupees will be spend on each of them. He said in next five year plan 13 textile parks will be set up.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by the State governor Ram Naik and the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at Babatpur airport on his arrival. It is his first vist to his constituency after assuming power. Mr. Modi has also adopted Jayapur village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana under Sewapuri assembly segment of his parliamentary constituency. Post lunch Prime Minister will be meeting general public at his Public Relation Office of his constituency and party workers at DLW guest house. Before concluding his first day schedules he will interact with prominent citizens and intellectuals of the city at a hotel. Prime Minister will wrap up his two day tour tomorrow visiting the Shree Maa Anand Mayi Ashram and hospital. Massive security arrangements are in place in the ancient temple town in view of PM's visit.
