Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called for quarterly monitoring to speed up infrastructure projects. He asked the Plan panel to set up a mechanism for monitoring the targets of all important projects.<br/><br/>Officials said, the Planning Commission will prepare the quarterly reports and present it to the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure,headed by the Prime Minister. <br/><br/>The status of infrastructure development will be open to public scrutiny as the ministries dealing with roads, power, railways, sea ports and airports will post their targets and achievements on their Websites.<br/><br/>The Plan panel has proposed to set up a mega fund with a seed money of 50,000 crore rupees to facilitate investment of over 45 lakh crores in the infrastructure sector during the 12th Plan period.
