PM calls for early drafting of Nepal's constitution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested all the political parties of Nepal to collectively make the Constitution and adopt it at the earliest. He said, this will give a new face of the democratic Nepal to the whole world. He said Nepal’s satisfaction is a reason for India to smile.

Mr. Modi said this after inaugurating the National Trauma Centre at Kathmandu, today, in the presence of Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. Mr. Modi arrived at Kathmandu today afternoon to attend the two-day SAARC summit starting from tomorrow. He said the trauma centre is the best present of India-Nepal friendship which will help in saving precious lives. This will work as a link of life between both the neighbouring nations and India will provide all that is needed for it in the future also.

Announcing a number of facilities for Nepal, Prime Minister Modi said, from now on, visitors to Nepal can carry 500 and 1000 rupees denomination currency notes upto a limit of Rs 25,000 which was not the case earlier. He also announced the slashing of telephone call rates by 35 per cent from India to Nepal. He said the Indian government has received lot of suggestions from Nepal to start e-library and we are working on it. He said along with highways, India will also take care of i-ways or information ways between both the nations.

Mr. Modi said that his government is working on providing wi-fi system in the Kathmandu-New Delhi bus service for travelers to explore the world while traveling to Nepal. Later, he also presented a ‘Dhruv’ helicopter to Nepal at an army function at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. Mr. Modi said the helicopter will take care of Nepal’s security concerns.
