Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the rail budget is aimed at overall development of the country. Terming the budget as a holistic one, he said Railways cannot be run on an ad-hoc basis.
He said the budget is focussed on Science and technology and will give speed to development of the railways and the country. The Prime Minister said the budget strengthens institutional mechanism and focuses on transparency and integrity. Mr Modi said Railways are not only a means of transportation but also an engine of the country growth.
Our Correspondent reports that the House was packed during the
presentation of the Railway Budget. Most part of the Minister’s speech was undisruptive and members were thumping the desks when the minister talked about the introduction of technology for the better functioning of the railway system, completion of on-going projects within a stipulated period and enhancement of budgetary allocation for rail projects in North East. Several members from the Rajya Sabha were seen in the Lok Sabha gallery taking note of the speech.
