PM attends special screening of Doordarshan-produced serial-'Swaraj: Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram ki Samagra Gatha'

<span style="color: #222222;">Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended the special screening of Doordarshan's production Swaraj: Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samgra Gatha. The screening was held at Parliament House.<br />''<br />''Speaking on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, India is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the 75th year of Independence. He expressed awe at the response received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call of Har Ghar Tiranga. <br />''<br />''He said, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has become mass movement with the active participation of people. Talking about the serial Swaraj, the Minister said, this serial will provide an unique opportunity to the people to get a better understanding of the country's freedom struggle and the contributions made by unsung heroes. He also appreciated the All India Radio effort for providing a unique opportunity to the young people in the AIR Next programme. He said, this programme has provided a platform to young people to share their views on freedom struggle and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports the special screening was attended by several Union Ministers including Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, BJP President JP Nadda, Members of Parliament and MLAs. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apurva Chandra, Prashar Bharati CEO Mayank Agarwal, Principal Director General of All India Radio News and Director General All India Radio NV Reddy and several senior officials of various Ministries and Department have also attended the screening.<br />''<br />''Swaraj is a 75-episode serial presenting the glorious history of the freedom struggle and lesser known tales about the Indian history. The programme is being dubbed in nine regional languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Bengali and Assamese along with English. The regional language versions will be broadcast on Doordarshan's regional channels from the 20th of August.<br />''<br />''Starting from the landing of Vasco-Da-Gama in 1498, the serial presents a rich saga of the heroes of this land. These include many unsung heroes of the likes of Rani Abbakka, Shivappa Nayaka, Bakshi Jagabandhu, Tirot Sing, Sidhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu, Kanhoji Angre, Rani Gaidinliu and Tilka Majhi along with famous freedom fighters, such as Rani Lakshmibai, Maharaj Shivaji, Tatya Tope and Madam Bhikaji Kama among others.</span>
