The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has assured the country that the government is very serious to bring to book all the wrongdoers regardless of their position in all scams including the 2G spectrum allocation.In his opening statement at a press conference in New Delhi today, he said that the talks are going on with the Opposition to allow the Parliament to function and hoped the forthcoming Budget Session will be orderly. The Speaker and the Leader of the House of Lok Sabha held several rounds of talks with the opposition leader to break the logjam in the House.Referring to the economic situation in the country Dr. Singh said that the inflation will come down to seven percent at the end of this fiscal. While expressing serious concern over inflation specially on food items, he said that the government is dealing with the situation in such a manner so that the growth rhythem is not disturbed. He elaborated that the high rate of inflation is also due to international developments including rising prices of crude oil and food items. He asserted that country successfully came out from the impact of international financial crisis and the economy will clock 8.5 percent growth this fiscal.Talking about internal security Dr. Singh said that the situation in the North East is getting normal with ULFA holding talks with the Centre. The Union Home Ministry has said that five more groups are holding talks with the government to usher in an era of peace and prosperity in the region. On Jammu and Kashmir the Prime Minister said that after turbulance the situation is under control and people of state can look forward to development process. He said several initiatives have been taken by the government to bring in peace in the State. He spoke about the Rangarajan panel which is looking into creating employment opportunities. Dr. Singh said, once the panel submits its report a fresh hope for productive employment will be generated among the youth in the state.The Prime Minister said that it is for the first time that leaders of the Permanent members of UN Security Council have visited India. Dr. Singh said that India has come in for appreciation for its democracy, rule of law and fundamental human rights and urged media not to excessively focus on negative aspects which affect the sense of self confidence in the country. Dr. Singh called upon the government, media and the opposition to work together to take India's march forward.
