Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all help to state governments to promote exports. Speaking after laying the foundation stone of the 6,000 crore rupee port based multi-product special Economic Zone at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust at Nhava Sheva in Navi-Mumbai yesterday, he said States will soon be allowed to form their own export promotion councils. Stressing the need for the Centre and the States to work in tandum to give a fresh thrust to exports he said the States should also work hard individually to promote exports. The Prime Minister also urged the States to compete with each other in enhancing exports and focus on development of markets abroad.
Voicing concern at a large number of stalled Special Economic Zone projects across the country, the Prime Minister said, a high-level team has been constituted to review the problems and resolve them at the earliest.
Mr. Modi said, shipping industry and ship building trade has a lot of potential and opportunity to generate employment.
