Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today asked his Ministers to strengthen the Government's initiatives to boost the country's economic growth.
Addressing a meeting of the full Council of Ministers in New Delhi, he said the country has enjoyed sustained and robust economic growth despite global recession. Dr Singh said the measures taken by the Government have made possible the enhanced spending in social sector.
He stressed the need for supporting the initiatives, particularly in health, education, employment, agriculture and rural development and other vital areas.
The Prime Minister said the country has to overcome the constraints that currently slow down the foreign direct investment.
Stating that fuel supply arrangements, security and environmental clearances and financing difficulties are the major constraints, Dr Singh said the Government has taken remedial measures to tackle the critical deficiencies on a priority basis.
