PM asks GoM to file report within 10 days on Bhopal Gas disaster

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has directed the GoM on Bhopal Gas disaster to hold meeting immediately and report back to the Cabinet within 10 days. According to PMO Dr. Manmohan Singh has asked the GoM to take stock of the situation arising out of the recent court judgment on Bhopal Gas disaster. He has also asked the Group of Ministers to assess the options and remedies available to the government on the various issues involved and get back to the cabinet. The GoM headed by the Home Minister Mr. P.Chidambaram was constituted after the verdict of a Court in Bhopal. Our correspondent says that the verdict had come in for criticism with most of the political parties. Earlier, the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said in Kolkata that the centre will explore the possibility of the extradition of the former CEO of Union Carbide Corporation Warren Anderson. He said that the then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Arjun Singh had decided to send Anderson out of Bhopal in view of the deteriorating law and order situation after the gas tragedy in 1984.<br/>
