PM asks for coordination between Center & State for identifying Pune blast culprits

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh reviewed the situation with Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi on Sunday following Saturday's blast at German Bakery in Pune. The Home Minister briefed the Prime Minister on his visit to Pune and on the state of investigations after the blast. Dr Manmohan Singh has given directions that the Centre and Maharashtra government should take coordinated and effective action to speedily investigate the matter so that those responsible for this heinous act are identified and brought to justice at the earliest.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of all those killed and injured in the incident. He also announced a compensation of two lakh rupees each to the next of kin of those killed and one lakh rupees each to the injured, from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, a sketch of the Pune blast suspect is being prepared by police on the basis of eyewitnesses account. This was disclosed by Pune Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh on Sunday. He said that one of the injured eyewitness is being treated under police protection. Dr. Singh said, no arrest has been made so far in connection with the blast. Police Commissioner confirmed the death of two foreign nationals. One of them is 26 years old Iranian student Said Abdulkahni and another is 37 years old lady Nadia Nacarani from Italy. AIR Pune Correspondent reports that the number of injured persons has gone up to 60. Out of them 12 are foreign nationals.<br/><br/>Maharashtra Government has reviewed security arrangements in cities like Nagpur, Aurangabad and Nashik along with Mumbai in the wake of Pune blast.<br/>
