Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Japan on Tuesday evening on the second leg of his three nation tour. He has a busy schedule during his two day stay in Malaysia. Dr. Singh will have in-depth discussions with his counterpart Najib Tun Razak on all facets of bilateral relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest. Prime Minister’s other engagements include his meetings with the King and Queen of Malaysia.Both Prime Ministers will launch the CEOs’ Forum signaling their strong expectation that business and industry on both sides, will foster a closer and deeper economic engagement. Head of a software company in Kuala Lumpur Harish Hariharan told AIR,that the visit will further boost the trade and people to people contact between two countries.Prime Minister will also deliver the Khazanah Global Lecture 2010 and will attend an Indian community reception hosted by the High Commissioner. A number of agreements are likely to be signed during PM’s visit. India and Malaysia are striving to give a strategic orientation to their partnership. AIR correspondent reports craftingbroad based ties, focusing on key sectors like IT, infrastructure, health and medicine, biotechnology and energy will be focus of discussions to expand and diversify cooperation between the two countries.Malaysia is India's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. Its investors are increasingly viewing India as an attractive destination. Malaysian construction companies have a good presence in India and have already completed 52 construction projects worth 2.34 billion us dollars. 35 more projects are in the pipeline. To give our economic engagement a strong impetus, the conclusion of negotiations on the bilateral Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement or CECA. Malaysia is home to one of the largest overseas Indian-origin communities .Besides some 150,000 skilled and semi-skilled Indian workers, Thousands of students study in each other’s country. The present visit of the Prime Minister is bound to give further impetus to the multifaceted relations.
