The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in Chennai Sunday evening. Tamil Nadu Governor Dr. Rosaiah, Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa and other dignitaries received the Prime Minister at the airport. Later Dr. Manmohan Singh proceeded to Raj Bhavan. State Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa met the Prime Minister and presented a memorandum on various issues pertaining to Tamil Nadu.

AIR correspondent reports, the issues include Mullai Periyar dam, National Food Security Bill, protection of traditional fishing rights for the Tamil Nadu fishermen and a special financial package for the State.

DMK President M. Karunanidhi will be meeting the Prime minister Monday morning to discuss the Mullaiperiyar issue.

The Prime minister is on a two day visit to Tamil Nadu. Dr. Manmohan Singh will attend the 125th birth Anniversary function of noted Mathematician Ramanujam at Madras University. He will later leave for Karaikudi to inaugurate the Ramanujam Higher Mathematics Centre building at Alagappa University.
