The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in New Delhi this afternoon from Brasilia after attending the IBSA and BRIC Summits in Brazil. Before visiting Brasilia Dr. Manmohan Singh had been in Washington to attend the Nuclear Security Summit hosted by US President Obama. <br/>Briefing media persons on board the Air India plane on his way back home, Minister of Commerce Anand Sharma said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s guidance led to the growing economic engagement in IBSA. He said that the IBSA CEO’s forum will be formed this year. This was decided at the business meeting in Rio. The IBSA trade is in excess of 16 billion Dollars despite the economic downturn. Anand Sharma said that the IBSA grouping deliberated on social development, UN reform and reform in the international financial institution. He also said that IBSA countries would pursue early conclusion of the Doha round of trade negotiations. He added that IBSA has been in the forefront of demand for a greater market access and must speak out against the protectionist policies. The three countries also consulted each other on climate change. <br/>Anand Sharma also said that BRIC grouping deliberated on making the G20 more representative of the present world reality. On the question of sanctions against Iran the BRIC countries felt that sanctions are not the answer.<br/>Anand Sharma also told reporters that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s meeting with the leaders of China, South Africa and Russia in Brasilia was important given the fact that with these countries and India have a strategic partnership.<br/>
