PM announces Rs 2 lakh assistance

President, Vice-President, Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi have expressed deep grief and sorrow at the Air India place crash and offered condolence to the bereaved families. The Prime Minister has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those killed.<br/><br/>BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman LK Advani and the Party President Nitin Gadkari have also condoled the loss of lives in the air crash.<br/><br/>Prime Minister spoke to Home Minister P Chidambaram and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Patel has already reached Mangalore. Kerala Chief Minister VS Achutanandan has also reached there. According to reports, most of the passengers on board were from Kerala. Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and State Home Minister VS Acharya have also have left for the site of accident.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, a function to mark the first year of UPA government in power this evening has also been postponed.
