The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Tuesday announced interim relief for cyclone 'Thane' affected states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to PMO spokesperson, 500 crore rupees has been given to Tamil Nadu and 125 crore rupees to Puducherry from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The Centre on Thursday constituted an inter-ministerial team to make on the spot assessment in the aftermath of the cyclone in both the states in which several people were killed with severe loss of property and agriculture. The delegation led by the Home Ministry consisted of representatives from the Ministries of agriculture, animal husbandary and dairying (fisheries), drinking water, finance, health, power, road transport and highways, rural development, water resources and planning commission.
