PM announces ex-gratia payment of two lakh rupees for kin of each rail accident victims in UP

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced ex-gratia payment for the families of the victims of Wednesday night's rail accident in Kanshiram Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Singh expressed extreme grief over the loss of lives in the accident. 38 members of a marriage party were killed and 29 others injured in the accident. The Prime minister has announced 2 lakh rupees for the kin of each person killed, 50,000 rupees each for seriously injured and 10,000 rupees each for those with simple injuries. Dr. Singh, who also holds the Railway portfolio, ordered a high-level inquiry by the Commissioner of Railway Safety into the mishap.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has also announced compensation to the family of the victims of the accident. 2 lakh rupees will be given to the kin of each person killed, 50,000 rupees each for the seriously injured and 25,000 rupees each for those with simple injuries. The Minster of State for Railway K H Muniaapa visited the accident site along with senior railway officials. The Minster also visited the Etah civil hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured bus passengers.
