PM announces ex-gratia assistance of Rs 2 lakh to next of kin of those killed in cyclone Phailin

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced an ex-gratia assistance of two lakh rupees to the next of kin of those killed in cyclone Phailin in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. He also announced 50 thousand rupees to seriously injured in the cyclone from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

Dr. Singh today reviewed the impact of Cyclone in both the states. He expressed sympathies for those who have lost their family members and complimented the efforts of the concerned agencies for their works to mitigate the loss of life in the cyclone.

The Prime Minister expressed stratification over the fact the loss of life has been contained to the minimum despite severity of the Cyclonic storm. However, he expressed distress over the extensive damage caused to property, crops and livestock by cyclone.
