The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has announced an interim relief of 1,000 crore Rupees to Karnataka and said a Central team will be dispatched immediately to assess the flood damage in the state. Talking to reporters in Raichur after an aerial survey of the rain-ravaged areas yesterday, he strongly refuted charges that the Central Government is discriminating against any State based on political affiliation. The Prime Minister asserted that the calamity-hit people in Kanataka and Andhra Pradesh will be treated equally.The Prime Minister had announced an immediate advance of 1,000 crore rupees towards relief and rehabilitation works in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. Describing the unprecedented floods as a national calamity in its own way, he assured the affected state all central help, saying money will not be a constraint to tackle the situation.
