The Prime Minister has announced adhoc assistance of 500 crore rupees to flood hit Assam.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday after an aerial survey of flood hit areas, the Prime Minister said a Central team will assess the damage caused by floods to the state.

Dr. Singh expressed satisfaction over rescue and relief operations taken by the state government and the defence forces. Dr. Singh said that 4.84 lakh people have taken shelter in 768 relief camps. All of them are being provided with mobile health centres.
