Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has announced 500 crore rupees immediate flood relief assistance to Uttarakhand. Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi yesterday urged the centre to have an immediate assessment of the damage caused by floods and cloud bursts in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. She spoke to the Prime Minister on phone after an aerial survey of the natural calamity affected areas of Uttarakhand. An inter ministerial central team has also been constituted for visiting the state to make an on the spot assessment of the damages.
