Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced 5 billion US Dollars Credit to Africa in the next three years to achieve its development goals.Speaking at the second plenary session of the Indo Africa summit in Addis ababa, Dr. Singh also announced 700 million dollars will be given to establish new institutions and trainining programmes in the African region in consultation with the African Union.He said, India will work with Africa to realise its vast potential and share its experiences in nation building.Earlier, the Plenary session co-chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh along with President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo began Tuesday afternoon at Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia.Ahead of the summit, the Prime Minister told reporters on arrival at the Ethiopian capital that India looks forward to working with the people and governments of Africa to give a new thrust to the relationship. He said that India looks upon Africa as a new growth pole of the global economy and wants to be partners in making a success of this process.The focus of this year’s summit would be on economic development, Diaspora, capacity building, human resources development, and non-traditional security.The summit would discuss the role of Indian companies, public and private, in the overall development and growth of infrastructure in Africa, both in terms of funds and technology.AIR correspondent covering the summit reports that India is keen on boosting its bilateral trade with Africa and meeting a target of 70 billion dollars in bilateral trade in 2012, which crossed 50-billion dollars mark.During the bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, Prime minister would also discuss terrorism and piracy with African leaders besides firming the strategic ties.Earlier, last evening Dr Manmohan Singh held parleys with Ethiopian counterpart Meles Zenawi and met Chairperson of the African Union Dr Jean Ping.
