Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced a 125 crore rupees relief package from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the Leh cloudburst victims. He said all houses destroyed by the natural calamity will be reconstructed within the next two-and-a-half months. Dr Manmohan Singh arrived on a day-long visit today to take stock of relief and rehabilitation undertaken in the aftermath of flash floods in Leh.Soon after arriving in Leh, he went straight away to a relief camp in Choglamsar village which was worst affected in the flash floods. Dr Manmohan Singh interacted with the victims and assured them that funds will not be a problem for rebuilding of the village. He assured them to visit Leh again before the onset of winter to asses the relief and rehabilitation works. Prime Minister was accompanied by the State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah and Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz.Dr Manmohan Singh said many lives have been lost during the tragedy which is irreparable but the Central and Jammu and Kashmir governments will take all possible measures to help the bereaved families. The Prime Minister said a monitoring committee under the chairmanship of state Chief Secretary will be constituted to ensure effective implementation of various schemes for the affected people.Dr Manmohan Singh also held a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and state officials to discuss the steps being taken for the relief and rehabilitation measures.Before leaving for Delhi Prime Minister reviewed the relief and rescue measures with the state government officials.
