Prime Minister Manmohan Singh advocated a re-look at the pension scheme for old artistes and favoured creation of a national fund which should be flexible to accommodate their needs.Dr Singh, who met a group of eminent musicians in New Delhi and listened to their grievances and suggestions, also asked the Culture Ministry to revisit its schemes for carrying forward the age-old 'Guru-Shishya' tradition so that maestros could nurture fresh and upcoming talent. The Prime Minister also assured the musicians that he will take up the matter with the Chief Ministers for strengthening of State Academies of art and culture and institutions of music etc.
