The Government has set new guidelines for National Sports Awards under which players and coaches who are accused of doping will not be consider for Arjuna and Dornacharya awards. The Sports Minister has issued new guidelines for awarding Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna, Dronacharya and Dhyanchand Awards. The new guidelines comes after the controversial athlete Ranjit Maheshwari was nominated for Arjuna Award. However the award was not given to him because of an old doping case against him.
